The Art of Perfecting Matte Lips

Matte lipsticks are trending this season; as a matter of fact they are in and we definitely want them trending atleast for the decade to come! On a serious note, the world has shifted from sheer, glossy and tinted lips to dramatic mattes, whether it be nudes or reds.

Everyone seems to have fallen in love with these mattes, and to perfect the art of wearing your matte to perfection, all you need to do is to master the below three steps. And yes, its definitely not the niche of fashion bloggers and celebrities.

To own the perfect matte pout and not end up with remnants of your lipcolour at the end of the day, all you have to do is follow the below basic rules of matte perfection!

Exfoliate

Its a huge no-no to apply your matte lipstick on dried and flaky lips. It not only gives you a patchy look, but the lipstick sticks on to your thin lip membrane making it difficult to take off .

Use a gentle exfoliator whenever you feel your lips need some exfoliation. Its not necessary to do on an everday basis. And its not advisable too. Or you will end up with bruised lips, which definitely isn’t the goal.

Moisturize

Moisturisation is not only important for skin. Its important to moisturize your lips too. After all we want them to look happy and hydrated. Use a good and gentle moisturizer or lip balm for moisturizing your lips.

Now onto the last and final step.

Apply

Some people prefer going out of the lines to create a bigger pout. Although its not mandatory, its totally your call. Personally I prefer staying in the lines.

Use a lip liner to line your lips(if you want your lipstick to last longer). Then take your matte lipstick and fill in.

Voila, you are ready to greet the world with your matte pout!
