Mirror mirror on the wall, who’s the fairest of them all? There is some kind of hypnotic addiction for the love of fairer skin tones. Wouldn’t it be enough if you have a beautiful heart instead? Or even if we look at it from a beauty perspective, what’s wrong with a slightly brown or olive skin tones for that matter? The sky won’t fall neither would the earth shatter. So why this humongous love for fairer shades?
For all that you know, dark skin tones have their own benefits. They don’t tan easily, neither do they show the growth of unwanted hair(read upper lips/facial hair) super quick. Let me get a point straight. I am not against fair skin tones, because I pretty much have a fair skin tone(Well, atleast by the Indian standards!) But still I don’t understand the prejudice.
You see people searching for their future wives/daughter-in-laws to be with a fairer skin tone. And a big alert here, they themselves are not on that side of the SHADE scale. If you yourself do not possess the quality(as people might want to believe), they why judge others???
And the best is yet to come. Labelling or categorising people based on the shades of being fair. Like she is more fair compared to you. Well, for all you might know, the person you are so easily prejudicial about based in the “Skin tone” might possess some exceptionally good qualities or might be good at a number of other things that you didn’t even put an effort to appreciate.
And one last thought🤔 Won’t fair skin age? It will pretty much age and even faster than dark skin.
So stop obsessing about the colour of your skin. Ya what you can obsess over is glowing and healthy skin. And a beautiful heart ❤️
